In my paintings I like to use color and light to evoke a certain mood. This painting is veiled in a layer of darkness to mimic the dark lighting at a party. Even though the subject of the piece is sitting in this darkness, wearing a dark blue dress, she is still glowing. When she walks into the room, everyone notices. Hello! My name is Leslie Jean Porter and I am an artist working in Southern California. Throughout my life I have expressed myself through a variety of media, including film, photography and costume, but my current passion is painting. After graduating from Bard College in New York, I began a whirlwind career across Europe. I worked with everyone from fashion designer Louis Feraud to renowned indie film director Robert Altman. In 1994, I was named Head of Acquisitions for Ciby 2000, a major film production company in France.
